The department of Education is one of the initial departments of Pithubar Girls’ Degree College which has been rendering invaluable service to the institution since its inception. Considering as an indispensible part of higher education, the subject education have been offering both Honours and Non-Honours courses for the Bachelor of Arts programme under Dibrugarh University. From the very beginning it started with a few students . With a single room and limited facilities, department had faced many problems but gradually it has been starting it’s journey with positive attitude of administration and the faculties.
Basically Pithubar Girls’ Degree College is a rural college and students come from rural areas. Many of the students are not from well-to-do family or some students from educationally disadvantage family. So the faculties always extend their hand to help him. Since its establishment in the year the Department of education has been fostering personality and monitoring students to edify their disposition. The Department boasts a small departmental library that is maintained and handled by the students themselves. The Department possesses a separate laboratory required for undertaking practical classes The department also arranges many co-curricular activities for welfare of the students, it maintains a wall magazine named ”Hrishika”
For Psychological Laboratory Practicals, the following equipments are present–
Semester/Choice based credit system (programme wise): The Department introduced semester system in the year of 2011 and Choice based credit system has been introduced in the year 2019 .The courses are offered as per syllabus prepared and prescribed by the Dibrugarh University. Skill based courses are introduced in the department for the fift & six semester for General students in the year of 2014-15 and SEC are introduced in 3rd and 4th semester 2021-22.

Bachelor in Education
The Department of Education is offering three year Bachelor in Education Programme comprises of total 6 (six) semesters viz. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. For imparting the programme based learning experiences, the syllabus of Dibrugarh University is being adopted.
