Pithubar Girls’ Degree College was established on the 9th August 1989. The college has been offered Arts (B.A.) courses to provide higher education facilities to the poor, backward and tea garden students of the society. The College is affiliated to the Dibrugarh University and recognised under 2(f) of UGC in 2010.

Pithubar Girls’ Degree college is situated in the centre of Moran legislative constituency Dibrugarh at Khowang Chariali, , Ajarguri. The surrounding area of the college are tea garden area, tribal area, inhabitant of other and more backward classes.. The college is named after the tea cultivator Late Pithubar Saikia owner of Duliabam Tea Estate. In the earlier stage Late Pithubar Saikia donated a plot of land to the Pithubar College. At the time of establishment, the name of the institution was Pithubar Girls’ Educational Institution. But at the time of affiliation under Dibrugarh University, the name has changed as Pithubar Girls’ Degree College, Khowang.
